Full Metal Alchemist

Full Metal Alchemist is the story of Edward and Alphonse Elric two brothers who are searching for redemption. They are both alchemists meaning they can create things like weapons or statues, or repair things using the Alchemy Law of Equivalent Exchange. These two brothers are special though, they broke the cardinal rule of alchemy, don't try to bring someone back from the dead. Because of this action Alphonse has lost all but his soul and is now bonded to a suit of armor, (thus making people assume he is the full metal alchemist) while his brother Edward lost part of his leg and his arm. Thanks to his childhood friend and her grandmother Edward has machine like prosthetics called auto-mail which he using for everyday things as well as for battle turning his auto-mail into a blade like weapon. Thinking that a special stone called the Philosopher's Stone could restore the human parts of Alphonse and Edward the two join the State Alchemists so that they can reach their goals faster. The problem is that as members of the State Alchemists Edward has more responsibilities to other people not just himself and his brother. 

This anime is truly great by any means. If you are a non conformist and you don't want to give this anime the time of day just because other people like it than you should give up on that notion for this anime. This anime (especially Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood) has a great story with heart wrenching situations as well as funny and action packed sequences. This anime does a good job of making some villains completely hated and all you want is for them to get what's coming to them. On the other hand some of the villains have a troubling past that turned them into what they are and you are just hoping that they see the light and change their ways. Earlier in the anime a character dies and at the funeral his little daughter is asking why he is being buried because he has to go to work in the morning and me being a 20 year old guy I started to cry because it was just so sad. There are a few moments that could make the most placid of anime watchers have the sniffles. This anime also has the on the edge of your seat action that will leave you fully satisfied and begging for more. This anime should be on EVERYONE'S shelf even people that are just the casual anime watcher this anime should go down in history as one of the greats.
